About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of our database systems. This role is critical in ensuring the databases operate efficiently, securely, and reliably to support the organization’s operational and strategic objectives. The Database Administrator will oversee various aspects of database management, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, upgrades, patch management, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of PostgreSQL databases, with additional knowledge of Oracle databases, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- Advanced skills and extensive experience with PostgreSQL databases.
- Additional experience or knowledge in Oracle databases.
- Proven expertise in database management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, upgrades, and patch management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate across departments.
- Relevant certifications in database management or related fields are a plus but not essential.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Database Administrator include:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- Monitoring database performance and tuning systems to improve efficiency and response times.
- Managing database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data integrity.
- Applying patches, upgrades, and system updates to ensure databases are current and secure.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting database issues to minimize downtime and maintain system availability.
- Collaborating with development teams to optimize database schema and queries.
- Implementing security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
- Documenting database configurations, procedures, and policies for future reference and audits.
