About MettleNest
MettleNest is an enterprise software development company working with UK businesses. We've built ML-based inventory systems for warehousing and logistics operators. We've also facilitated the set up of 36 businesses and delivered web and data aggregation for 72 active clients. Our main project right now is an AI financial advisor for SMEs, which we're building in-house.
The role
You'll design and build the data foundation behind the AI financial advisor. That means taking in licensed and public business data, structuring it, and making it reliable enough for our models to train on and query. You'll be one of the first dedicated data hires in a small engineering team, working directly with our lead software engineer.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
