Data Centre Manager

Location: Peterborough & Corby (Site Based)

Mitie are looking for an experienced Data Centre Manager to lead the operational delivery of a critical data centre portfolio supporting one of the UK's largest banking organisations.

This is a high-profile leadership role with accountability for multiple data centres, critical engineering infrastructure, operational performance, stakeholder management and service excellence across a complex and highly regulated environment. The successful candidate will lead a team of Technical Managers and approximately 55-60 engineers, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical power, cooling and M&E systems that support nationally important banking services.

Data centre experience is essential for this position.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the operational management of multiple data centres across Peterborough and Corby.
  • Managing Technical Managers and a team of circa 55-60 engineers operating within a 24/7 critical environment.
  • Taking overall responsibility for critical infrastructure including power, cooling, high voltage and specialist M&E systems.
  • Leading incident management, escalation processes and root cause analysis activities.
  • Managing KPIs, SLAs, compliance requirements and operational performance.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and specialist technical teams.
  • Overseeing project activity across the portfolio and ensuring minimal operational risk.
  • Providing oversight of soft services including security, cleaning and waste management within the integrated facilities management model.

We're looking for a proven leader who can operate confidently within a highly critical environment and who understands the standards, controls and stakeholder expectations associated with data centre operations.

You will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in a Data Centre Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Strong background within critical environments and mission-critical facilities.
  • High voltage experience and an Authorised Person (AP) background.
  • Experience managing large engineering teams across multiple sites.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior level.
  • A strong understanding of incident management, business continuity and operational resilience.
  • Experience managing budgets, commercial performance, KPIs and SLAs.
  • A hands-on leadership style and the ability to make informed decisions in a high-pressure environment.
