Data Centre Manager
Location: Peterborough & Corby | Full-time, site based
This isn’t about being the most technical person in the room. It’s about being the person who can lead a complex, critical operation with confidence.
Mitie is looking for an experienced Data Centre Manager to take operational leadership of a multi-site critical infrastructure portfolio across Peterborough and Corby.
We’re looking for a strong operational leader with the presence, credibility and commercial awareness to bring together people, engineering, service delivery and customer relationships in an environment where resilience and performance really matter.
While data centre experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. What is important is experience leading within a complex, highly critical or regulated infrastructure environment where operational failure carries significant consequences.
What you'll be responsible for
You’ll take overall operational ownership across the portfolio, providing leadership and direction to the teams responsible for delivering day-to-day services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
