Day Provision Wellbeing Assistant

Our client is a local charity dedicated to making a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of older people across the London Borough of Hounslow. They deliver high-quality, responsive and person-centred services that reflect the needs, aspirations and voices of older people in the community. They are now looking for a caring and dependable Day Provision Wellbeing Assistant to join their supportive team.

The Role

You will help provide a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment for older adults attending the Day Provision service. This varied and rewarding role includes supporting service users during their journeys to and from the Centre, offering companionship and emotional support, and helping to deliver meaningful social, educational and physical activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely assist service users during scheduled pick-up and drop-off times, including support between their front door, the transport vehicle and the Centre.
• Ensure service users are seated comfortably and wearing their seatbelts throughout each journey.
• Build trusting and caring relationships with service users and, where appropriate, their carers.
• Provide companionship, emotional support and suitable supervision while encouraging independence.
• Plan and deliver meaningful social, physical, linguistic, intellectual, cultural, emotional and spiritual activities in line with the SPLICES framework.
• Support service users to participate in activities, events and external trips.
• Assist with refreshments, lunch and afternoon tea in a dignified and inclusive way.
• Help service users move safely around the Centre, including escorting them to and from toilet areas. Personal care is not normally part of this role, except in an emergency, which must be reported.
• Apply safe moving and handling techniques when required.
• Work closely with another support assistant, colleagues and volunteers to provide a consistent service.
• Help maintain the Centre and its activity rooms as clean, safe and welcoming spaces.
• Collect and securely store service user payments, recording transactions in line with procedures.
• Maintain accurate daily records and promptly report concerns, incidents or changes in a service user’s wellbeing.
• Attend team meetings, training sessions and supervision as required.
• Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding standards at all times.
• Respect each person’s cultural, religious and individual preferences while supporting equality, diversity and inclusion.
