The Vale Learning Disability Day Service provides meaningful day opportunities to adults with a learning disability, who may also have a complex presentation of need. We are a person-centred, outcomes-led, community-based provision, which delivers day opportunities from day centre bases and in local community locations, serving citizens across the whole of the Vale. About The Role
Pay Details: Grade 6 £30,515 - £33,119 pro rata
Hours of Work/Working Pattern: 37 hours Monday to Friday
Main Place of Work: Current base is either Woodlands or Trysor O’Le day centres but may include various locations across the Vale of Glamorgan in accordance with the needs of the role.
To work within Learning Disability Day Services providing high quality, outcome led, person centred planning and support to people with learning disabilities and complex support needs. This involves developing plans that enable outcomes to be achieved and creating timetables of opportunity for individuals, as well as coordinating teams to implement the plans and monitor their effectiveness at regular intervals.

You will provide a link worker role to allocated individuals and undertake regular reviews with the person and their networks to ensure identified outcomes are achieved, as well as supporting individuals both in community and day centre-based activities. To effectively supervise Day Service Support Workers through effective performance management. Participate in team meetings and undertake staff development and all relevant training programmes. Positively participate in your own and staff members #itsaboutme reviews. To attend to the personal and physical needs of individuals in a respectful manner and practice in accordance with agreed procedures, to include medication administration, infection control and food hygiene.
You will maintain records, to include financial records and compile reports. You will coordinate and maintain day service social media/digital platforms. To undertake effective risk management, develop safe working methods and maintain a safe working environment, to include manual handling and use of departmental vehicles. You will maintain housekeeping records and report maintenance issues to assist with the upkeep of each day centre base.
About You
You will need:
- Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and establishing community networks and resources with them.
- Commitment to working as part of a team and experience of liaising with a wide range of agencies.
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating service delivery standards.
- Knowledge of relevant Social Care policy, best practice and key legislation.
- A person-centred approach to plan, implement, monitor and review day services for individuals with a learning disability who may also have a complex presentation of support needs.
- Organized and effective in managing your own workload and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people using a variety of methods.
- Ability to contribute effectively to the supervision of staff, to include performance management and undertaking #it’saboutme appraisals.
- Proven IT and digital technology skills to include Microsoft Office and good literacy and numeracy skills.
- A good general standard of education and the ability to undertake relevant training and apply skills and knowledge to your job role.
- A positive attitude and ability to lead change and staff engagement.
- Commitment to promoting the principles of equality and demonstrate understanding of core social care values and ethics.
- Undertake Positive Behavioural Management training and apply Positive Behavioural Support within your day to day work.
