Support Worker
Long Eaton Day Services, NG10 1DS
£13.15 per hour | Monday to Friday | Weekday shifts
Change lives by helping people enjoy fuller, more meaningful days.
At Long Eaton Day Services, support is about much more than completing a list of tasks. It is about getting to know each person, understanding how they communicate and helping them enjoy activities, relationships and experiences that matter to them.
We support individuals with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, as well as people with complex health needs, physical disabilities and autism. We are looking for an experienced Support Worker who can bring care, energy and flexibility to our team.
What Working Here Can Feel Like
Some of the people attending the service communicate non-verbally. That means making a difference can involve noticing a smile, a change in expression, someone holding your hand or another individual response that tells you they are enjoying themselves or that something is not quite right.
Our team describes those moments as some of the most meaningful parts of the role. This is a lively, activity-focused service where people enjoy themed days, music, games, dressing up, movement and other experiences shaped around their interests and abilities.
Your Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Get to know each person and understand their individual needs, preferences and communication style.
- Provide physical and emotional support with patience, warmth and respect.
- Help people take part in stimulating, varied and enjoyable activities.
- Offer enhanced care through a flexible and individualised approach.
- Support individual medical and welfare needs in line with your training and agreed plans.
- Notice and report changes in a person’s health, wellbeing or behaviour.
- Encourage choice, participation and independence wherever possible.
- Support personal care and dietary needs respectfully.
- Safeguard the people in our care.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Work closely with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
