DAY TECHNICIAN – DATA CENTRE

Location: Harlow, Essex
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, Days
Employment Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Day Technician to join a leading facilities management team operating within a highly critical technical environment in Harlow.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong maintenance, facilities or critical environment background to join an established team responsible for the safe and reliable operation of a high-profile facility.

The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site, working alongside the wider engineering team and specialist contractors to ensure all building services and critical infrastructure remain operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the facility.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs across electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Monitor and maintain critical and non-critical building services.
  • Complete routine plant room inspections and operational checks.
  • Monitor BMS and respond to alarms and system faults.
  • Support maintenance of HVAC, air conditioning and mechanical systems.
  • Carry out electrical maintenance across LV distribution and associated systems.
  • Complete basic fault finding and repairs where suitably qualified.
  • Liaise with contractors and specialist service providers.
  • Follow site-specific SOPs, RAMS, Permit to Work and LOTO procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and site documentation.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support emergency response and incident management when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability and site performance.

We're looking for an engineer with experience working within a commercial, industrial, critical environment, data centre or similar technically complex facility.

You should have:

  • Previous experience as a Day Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Facilities Engineer, Building Services Engineer or similar.
  • A strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance background.
  • Experience with HVAC, AHUs, pumps, motors, BMS or electrical distribution.
  • Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience working with contractors and third-party service providers.
  • Good understanding of RAMS, Permit to Work and LOTO procedures.
  • Relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications.
  • A professional and proactive approach to maintenance and customer service.
