Summary
We are an international leader in sustainable construction, driven by a passion for excellence, but it's our people that are our top priority. We connect, collaborate, and champion the well-being of our employees, forming partnerships and pioneering change in our ever-evolving industry.
Superglass, part of Etex's Insulation division, is a top three player in the UK and Ireland glass mineral wool market, manufacturing thermal and acoustic insulation at our plant in Stirling, Scotland. Made largely from recycled glass, our products help make buildings warmer, quieter and more energy efficient. As part of Etex, a global building materials group with around 1,200 teammates across the UK and Ireland, we offer the feel of a local site with the backing of an international business.
We're looking for a Dayshift Mechanical Engineer to keep our Stirling plant running, carrying out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across our production equipment and building services, and supporting the installation of new plant. You'll join a close-knit maintenance team with a wide range of equipment to work on, and you'll receive training on plant systems and vibration analysis. Core hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with occasional 6am starts during planned shutdowns and some night or weekend callouts.
What you'll do
- Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across the production plant and building services.
- Respond to maintenance requests logged in our computerised maintenance management system and record your work there.
- Start each shift by agreeing tasks with the team, and complete routine daily checks.
- Work hands-on with conveyor systems, bearings, gearboxes and other rotating equipment.
- Support the installation of new plant and equipment, in line with current regulations and health and safety guidelines.
- Give practical help to production team leaders and liaise with suppliers to arrange parts outside normal working hours.
- Follow health and safety standards and risk assessments and take part in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen and 5S.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
