Job Description

Our Global Banking client is looking for an experienced Db2 for z/OS System Programmer to join their mainframe engineering team for an initial 6 months contract. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the performance, stability, and security of a 50+ subsystem Db2 estate across multiple geographies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Installing, testing, and maintaining Db2 releases and tooling
  • Managing distributed Db2 connectivity
  • Engineering automation solutions
  • Ensuring stability of high-volume OLTP (CICS) Db2 environments
  • Database planning, maintenance, and capacity management
  • Monitoring performance and resolving issues quickly
  • Managing security, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery processes
  • Supporting development and production teams
  • Troubleshooting complex Db2 and z/OS issues

What you’ll bring

  • Strong Db2 for z/OS systems experience
  • Proven background in Db2 production support, tuning, and software maintenance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Solid understanding of database design principles
  • Knowledge of GDPR and information security practices
  • Familiarity with Agile and incident management
  • Programming skills (REXX / COBOL desirable)
