Job Description
Our Global Banking client is looking for an experienced Db2 for z/OS System Programmer to join their mainframe engineering team for an initial 6 months contract. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the performance, stability, and security of a 50+ subsystem Db2 estate across multiple geographies.
What you’ll be doing
- Installing, testing, and maintaining Db2 releases and tooling
- Managing distributed Db2 connectivity
- Engineering automation solutions
- Ensuring stability of high-volume OLTP (CICS) Db2 environments
- Database planning, maintenance, and capacity management
- Monitoring performance and resolving issues quickly
- Managing security, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery processes
- Supporting development and production teams
- Troubleshooting complex Db2 and z/OS issues

What you’ll bring
- Strong Db2 for z/OS systems experience
- Proven background in Db2 production support, tuning, and software maintenance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Solid understanding of database design principles
- Knowledge of GDPR and information security practices
- Familiarity with Agile and incident management
- Programming skills (REXX / COBOL desirable)
