Site Operations Department

The Site Operations Department is responsible for the overall health of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and performance of all data modules in our data centers. This Site Operations team is the face of Vantage to our customers and the guarantee of business continuity and excellence of Operations of our campus as well as the performance of our customer installations. Position Overview

Reporting to the Campus Director, the DC Site Manager is responsible for the safe operation of systems across multiple assigned data centre facilities. This position will oversee workflow/work order management, training plans, event management, hiring and performance management of their assigned CFE teams, ensuring consistent operational excellence, customer service and engineering standards across all assigned sites.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead a team of Manager Chief Engineers and Critical Facility Engineers (CFE) to ensure the safe operation of multiple assigned data centre sites 24x7.
  • Daily management and administration of the engineering and operations functions across the assigned facilities, with the objectives of safely and effectively operating machinery and building systems.
  • Hold employees accountable for preventive and corrective maintenance of systems and equipment across all assigned sites.

Duties

  • Understand the engineering and operational aspects of the building systems across multiple facilities, recognising system performance deficiencies immediately and responding to operational and emergency situations.
  • Provide direct leadership to Manager Chief Engineers by coaching, supporting and driving their performance and development.
  • Encourage and foster a team-oriented environment through positive feedback.
  • Manage contracted service work across the assigned facilities, including understanding and developing the scope of service, bidding, awarding and administering any contracts.
  • Ensure that CFE team members are trained, as appropriate, in new processes and procedures.
  • Direct and maintain preventive maintenance and work order programmes across all assigned sites.
  • Identify and implement energy efficient solutions across the assigned facilities.
  • Facilitate plant room tours for internal and external customers/visitors across the assigned sites as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field, Electrically or Mechanically qualified, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in Critical Infrastructure/environments, strongly preferred.
  • Experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision, strongly preferred.
  • Ensure the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate all assigned facilities.
  • Organise administrative functions related to multi-site operations, such as work orders, maintenance activities, budgets, etc.
  • Assist with the preparation of operational and capital portions of the budget.
  • Ensure that major projects performed across the assigned facilities are properly planned, executed and closed out in accordance with best current practices in our industry.
  • Oversee the activities of contractors working across the assigned facilities.
  • Direct managerial experience and interpersonal skills, strongly preferred.
  • Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and building automation systems.
