DCS Control Room Manager

Working Location

Brinsworth, Sheffield

Contract Type

Permanent

Work Schedule

6-week rotating pattern of 12-hour Days and Nights, with substantial rest periods and a dedicated cover/training week each cycle. Hours are managed on an annualised basis (37.5 hours per week contracted), providing a balanced work pattern over the year.

Salary

£65,000 - £70,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of plants on a 24-hour basis.
  • Investigate plant issues and disturbances as they arise.
  • Report on plant performance and monitor key operational measures.
  • Manage alarms and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Lead plant start-up situations, balancing customer demand against cost.
  • Carry out plant efficiency evaluations to identify performance issues.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure operations minimise process safety risk.
  • Uphold performance and compliance measures across the plant.
  • Support plant commissioning activity where required.

Requirements

  • HNC or higher in electrical, instrumentation, chemical engineering, or a process discipline, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills, confident working with data trends.
  • Self-starter with high safety awareness and sound decision-making under pressure.
  • Genuine appetite for learning and ongoing development.
  • Control room experience using SCADA systems is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Plant commissioning experience is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Works with integrity and supports an inclusive team culture.
