Role Overview
This role requires an Automation Engineer with strong Python skills and hands-on DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) experience. The focus is on building scalable automation frameworks, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code solutions to modernize DDI operations across a complex enterprise environment, working closely with DDI SMEs, network engineers, and platform teams to deliver a fully automated, self-service ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build Python-based automation solutions for DDI platforms (Infoblox, EfficientIP, Cygna Labs QIP, or similar)
- Develop and consume REST APIs to automate DNS, DHCP, and IPAM workflows
- Build infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform and Ansible
- Create self-service workflows for DNS/IP provisioning (service catalogs, portals)
- Integrate DDI services into CI/CD pipelines and internal developer platforms
- Automate DNS record management, IP allocation, and configuration drift remediation
- Build validation, testing, and guardrails for automated DDI changes
- Implement observability (logging, metrics, telemetry) and build dashboards to monitor automation health
- Collaborate with network, security, and platform teams to ensure reliable, production-ready automation
- Champion engineering best practices, development standards, automated testing, and continuous improvement

Ideal Experience
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced Python development skills
- Experience with REST APIs (design, consumption, authentication mechanisms) and API gateways (e.g., Kong)
- Hands-on experience automating DDI platforms such as Infoblox, EfficientIP, or similar
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, IPAM, IP addressing, subnetting, and routing
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Proficiency with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and version control platforms (e.g., GitHub)
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and observability tools
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills

Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud DNS platforms (Amazon Route 53, Azure DNS)
- Experience with DDI platforms such as VitalQIP or EfficientIP
- Exposure to event-driven architectures or message queues
- Understanding of DNS security (DNSSEC, rate limiting)
