Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer to join its globally renowned investment technology platform, where world-class engineering and infrastructure are fundamental to the firm's success. As part of continued investment into its infrastructure capabilities, this Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer will play a key role in designing, scaling, and supporting the virtualisation and storage platforms that underpin research, trading, and business operations across a complex global environment. Working on mission-critical systems, you'll be responsible for driving platform performance, reliability, automation, and capacity planning across a sophisticated infrastructure estate.
They are looking for a Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a genuine passion for solving complex infrastructure challenges. The successful Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer will take ownership of strategic initiatives across VMware, enterprise storage, automation, performance optimisation, and platform resilience, while partnering closely with infrastructure, platform, and engineering teams globally. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence the future direction of a world-class technology environment, working alongside some of the industry's strongest engineers on large-scale projects that directly support a highly successful investment business.

Key Responsibilities
- Own and optimise enterprise virtualization and storage platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Drive infrastructure modernisation initiatives through technology evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and strategic planning.
- Research, design, and implement next-generation virtualization and storage solutions.
- Develop automation and tooling to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and platform resilience.
- Lead complex migration projects and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver infrastructure enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, resource utilisation, and operational processes.
- Influence infrastructure strategy and help define best practices across the technology organisation.

Key Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience building, supporting, and evolving enterprise virtualization environments.
- Deep expertise with VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, or similar virtualization technologies; multi-platform experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage technologies, SAN environments, and storage protocols.
- Experience with software-defined storage platforms.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale infrastructure transformation or migration projects.
- Strong automation and scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within mission-critical environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to independently lead technical initiatives.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of complex projects from inception to delivery.
- Degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline is advantageous.
