Assistant Manager Deal Advisory / M&A Tax – Private Equity & Credit

Tax Assistant Manager

Our client is a leading professional services firm with an established and highly regarded Deal Advisory Tax practice. Their collaborative culture, commitment to professional development and flexible approach to working make this an excellent opportunity for ambitious tax professionals looking to develop their careers in transaction tax.

The Deal Advisory Tax team advises corporate clients, financial institutions and investors on a broad range of domestic and international transactions. Within the team sits a specialist Private Equity & Credit practice, advising large and mid-market private equity houses and credit funds throughout the investment lifecycle.

The team provides support across buy-side due diligence, transaction structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, restructuring and exit events, helping clients identify tax risks, maximise value and execute transactions efficiently. Working closely with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions, the role offers exposure to complex international transactions and cross-border tax matters.

The Role

As a Tax Assistant Manager, you will work alongside senior members of the team on a wide range of high-profile transactions, providing commercially focused tax advice to a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Partners and Directors on complex transactions, delivering high-quality tax advice and client service.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting with proposals, pitches and new client opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, legal advisers and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a key point of contact throughout transaction processes, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently.
  • Prepare and review technical advice covering a broad range of UK and international tax matters.
  • Analyse tax-related documentation and financial information, identifying risks, opportunities and commercial implications.
  • Assist with financial modelling and reviewing tax assumptions.
  • Prepare and review transaction funding structures and capitalisation tables.
  • Coach and support junior members of the team, sharing knowledge and encouraging development.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of UK and international tax developments.
  • Contribute to technical publications, market insights and thought leadership.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • CTA, ACA or CA qualification (or equivalent).
  • A genuine interest in M&A and transaction tax.
  • Strong UK corporate tax knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
