Decarbonisation Support Advisor

Location: Ashington/Durham

Flexible to suit the operating areas of Bernicia, however, is expected to frequently work away from the normal office location and will regularly deal with customers in their homes.

Salary: £31,873 per annum, plus a £2,142 car allowance

Contract: Permanent Post

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Closing: 12 Noon on Friday 21st August 2026

Introduction

If you’re passionate about the Environment and having a key role in helping deliver energy efficiency improvements, by supporting customers then our Decarbonisation Support Advisor is for you.

Individuals interested in this role must always put the needs of our customers first, providing appropriate care and consideration in every case.

We are looking for people who are great communicators and passionate about making homes more energy efficient but are also detail focused and realistic about the challenges we face in reaching our targets.

Role benefits

About The Role

You will ensure effective resident consultation to Bernicia customers, in accordance with PAS2035:2023 (or future iterations) pre, during, or post installation of energy efficiency measures. To provide appropriate and bespoke advice to our customers to keep them engaged throughout the process and obtain necessary relevant information.

Visit customers in their homes pre and post installation of energy efficiency measures to explain the planned measures, their benefits, potential savings, how energy can be reduced further/how to use efficiently and to explain the process.

You will liaise with different departments in Bernicia such as our Asset, Property, and Housing teams, along with our delivery partner and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and liaison for customers so that any questions, concerns, or issues can be managed and resolved swiftly to customer satisfaction.

Your Skills And Experience

Successful candidates will need:

  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment and a willingness to understand construction and retrofit techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent team working skills.
  • Good IT skills, with an experience of Word and Excel, and with an ability to update and interrogate bespoke systems.

Essential

  • Full clean driving licence and the use of a vehicle for work purposes.

  • Relevant demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Level 3 award in Domestic Retrofit Advice.
  • City and Guilds Energy Awareness and Advice.
