Job function

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Deinstallation Site Manager will oversee the successful delivery of telecoms Network Operations Centre (NOC) decommissioning projects, managing a team of Deinstallation Assistants and ensuring all equipment removal activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements.

You will act as the primary on-site operational lead, coordinating activities between TXO teams, customers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and hands-on experience within telecoms environments, data centres, exchanges, or technical facilities.

Site Management & Leadership

  • Lead and supervise teams of Deinstallation Assistants during telecom network decommissioning projects.
  • Provide clear direction, task allocation, and daily briefings to ensure efficient site delivery.
  • Manage site activities from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within agreed scope.
  • Act as the TXO representative on customer sites, maintaining professional relationships with customers and site contacts.
  • Monitor team performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to company standards.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of Deinstallation Assistants.

Telecom Equipment De-installations

  • Perform and oversee the safe removal and deinstallation of telecom network equipment from customer locations.
  • Ensure equipment is disconnected, removed, labelled, packaged, and prepared for transportation in line with TXO processes.
  • Manage the removal of racks, cabinets, cabling, power systems, hardware, and associated network infrastructure.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, avoiding damage to customer assets and facilities.
  • Follow customer-specific procedures, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permit-to-Work requirements.

Asset Identification & Detailing

  • Ensure all recovered assets are accurately identified, recorded, and labelled.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventories including equipment descriptions, serial numbers, quantities, and condition assessments.
  • Ensure asset information is captured using TXO systems and processes.
  • Support asset recovery teams by providing accurate data to maximise resale and reuse opportunities.
  • Identify discrepancies between planned and recovered equipment and report accordingly.

Deliveries & Collections

  • Coordinate equipment collections, deliveries, and movement of assets between customer sites, warehouses, and logistics partners.
  • Ensure assets are securely packaged, handled, and transported according to TXO standards.
  • Liaise with logistics teams to resolve delivery or collection issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including collection notes and asset transfer records.

Health & Safety

  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across all site activities.
  • Complete and review site risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Ensure compliance with TXO policies, customer requirements, and relevant legislation.
  • Report incidents, hazards, and near misses promptly.
  • Ensure all team members follow correct PPE and safe working practices.

Reporting & Administration

  • Provide regular progress updates to Operations Managers and project stakeholders.
  • Complete daily site reports, work completion reports, and asset documentation.
  • Escalate project risks, delays, or operational challenges promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across TXO decommissioning operations.

About you

Essential

  • Proven experience managing teams within a technical, engineering, telecoms, data centre, or facilities environment.
  • Experience delivering site-based projects involving equipment removal, installation, maintenance, or decommissioning.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage field-based teams.
  • Understanding of telecom network infrastructure, NOCs, exchanges, data centres, or IT environments.
  • Experience completing asset inventories and equipment tracking.
  • Strong health & safety awareness with experience working within controlled environments.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work away from home during the week.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in telecom decommissioning, network dismantling, or asset recovery.
  • Knowledge of multi-vendor telecom equipment environments (e.g. Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, Ciena).
  • Experience working within carrier, operator, or enterprise customer sites.
  • IPAF, PASMA, ECS, CSCS, or relevant site qualifications.
  • Experience working within data centres or secure technical facilities.
