Overview

Strata Solicitors is looking for an experienced Defence Claims Handler to join its team in Blisworth.

What the role involves: This position is ideal for someone with insurance claims handling experience, particularly in managing their own caseload, negotiating settlements, and delivering positive outcomes for clients. Experience with defence claims is highly desirable, though candidates from other insurance sectors will also be considered.

Location & work pattern: Initially, the role is full-time and office-based, Monday to Friday (8am–6pm). After completing a 3-month probationary period, you’ll have the option to work from home two days per week.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week.


How You’ll Make an Impact

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of third-party motor and property damage claims, from start to settlement.
  • Reviewing claims, assessing liability, and making decisions aligned with company procedures.
  • Negotiating with third parties, insurers, and legal representatives to progress claims to successful outcomes.
  • Setting up claims accurately and maintaining detailed records throughout the lifecycle.
  • Proactively managing claims to ensure they’re resolved within service level agreements.
  • Handling credit hire claims and capturing relevant information on hire and repairs.
  • Maintaining accurate reserves and claim data.
  • Providing regular updates to clients while delivering high-standard customer service.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and managers to support team objectives and service delivery.

Requirements and Qualifications

A strong candidate will bring:

  • Previous experience in claims, insurance, legal services, financial services, customer service, or another similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and attention-to-detail abilities.
  • Ability to manage busy workloads while prioritising effectively.
  • A customer-focused, proactive, and professional approach.
  • Comfort working independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
  • GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.
