Defence Journalist

At Clarion, our people are at the absolute heart of what we do. We’re proud that our core values of PASSION, CARE, IMAGINATION, and TRUST define the way we carry out our work across all of our teams.

If you share our values and want to be a part of a successful, dynamic, and creative global business then we want to hear from you.

The Opportunity:

Clarion Defence & Security delivers world-class defence events, such as DSEI, connecting global industry leaders and driving innovation worldwide.

DSEI Gateway is our rapidly growing digital media offering under DSEI, designed to enhance the brand’s online presence and build a highly engaged B2B audience. We achieve this by publishing defence-focused industry news, features, explainers, video reels, and webinars on our website, while also reporting at all our events.

Building on a successful year of growth, we launched a new editorially-first website for DSEI in March, with high-quality, authoritative defence industry content at its core.

We are seeking a talented and driven Defence Journalist to join our expanding London-based team. This is a critical role for someone passionate about the defence sector and eager to shape the editorial voice of a leading global defence brand.

You will be instrumental in increasing the authority and credibility of DSEI's brand, by delivering original, high-impact journalism focused on the global defence industry. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on growing a publishing brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft compelling content: Write concise, engaging news articles, features, and explainers that keep readers informed about the latest developments and opportunities in the defence industry.
  • Identify breaking stories: Have a keen eye for uncovering significant news within the defence sector.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Proactively identify and secure interviews with senior industry leaders, government officials, military personnel, and subject matter expert globally to uncover compelling stories and unique insights.
  • Newsletter production: Research, write, and curate content for our highly successful monthly and weekly defence industry newsletter, ensuring its continued growth and engagement.
  • Ensure consistency: Maintain consistency with content and style guide.
  • Content strategy input: Actively contribute ideas for coverage, helping to shape the editorial calendar and content strategy for the new DSEI website and the wider Defence Digital ecosystem.
  • Editorial excellence: Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and compliance, ensuring all content is timely, editorially sound, and relevant to a senior B2B audience.
  • Event coverage: Support the live coverage of our key defence events, including DSEI, to deliver customer-centric content.
  • Flexibility: Willing to work with different content formats, such as video.
  • Represent Clarion: A professional individual that represents Clarion at conferences, events, and public forums.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
