Envitia is a UK-based software and services company that helps organisations unlock the full value of their data to make better, faster decisions. With over 30 years of experience, we specialise in delivering innovative software products, solutions, and consultancy services that transform complex data challenges into actionable insights.
Our mission is to empower customers across defence, government, and national security sectors to harness the power of data — from geospatial intelligence to advanced analytics and AI integration. We are proud to be a trusted partner to UK defence and government organisations, delivering technology that drives smarter, data-driven outcomes.

The Role
At Envitia, we help Defence organisations unlock the value of their data to enable better decision-making, faster operational outcomes and greater mission success. We're looking for a Defence Solution Architect who can bridge the gap between operational need and technical delivery, translating complex mission challenges into secure, interoperable and scalable solutions.
This is a high-impact role within our Consulting division, where you'll work closely with Defence stakeholders, mission experts, engineering teams and delivery partners to design and integrate capabilities that enable effective data discovery, transformation and exchange across complex environments. You'll be responsible for creating solution architectures that not only define systems, but demonstrate how data moves, transforms and delivers operational value.
From shaping mission-led architectures and developing data models to defining integration patterns and ensuring alignment with Defence standards, security requirements and enterprise architecture principles, you'll play a key role throughout the solution lifecycle. You'll contribute to technical assurance, capability development and the successful delivery of innovative Defence solutions from concept through to implementation.
If you're passionate about solving complex Defence challenges, enabling data-driven operations and shaping the future of interoperable military capabilities, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Design and assure end-to-end solution architectures that support experimentation, integration, and Defence data interoperability.
- Translate operational mission threads, user requirements and experimentation objectives into scalable, secure and deliverable technical solutions.
- Produce and maintain architectural artefacts, including solution views, data flow diagrams, interface specifications, data models, integration views and decision records.
- Define integration approaches that enable data discovery, transformation, exchange and exploitation across heterogeneous Defence systems.
- Work collaboratively with mission engineering, software development, data engineering, experimentation and operational analysis teams to ensure architectural coherence from concept through implementation.
- Support the definition and assurance of Information Exchange Requirements, interface contracts, non-functional requirements and security constraints.
- Identify technical risks, interoperability challenges, architectural trade-offs and delivery dependencies, providing clear recommendations to Defence and delivery stakeholders.
- Support experimentation planning, execution and technical reviews, ensuring lessons learned are captured and fed into future capability development.
- Ensure solutions align with security, information assurance, Defence standards and enterprise architecture principles.
- Provide technical leadership in solution reviews and Technical Design Authority forums.
- Contribute reusable architecture patterns, methods and learning from customer work into Envitia’s wider architecture capability.
- Ensure solution and data architectures are subject to robust cost and effort estimation, covering design, development, transition, operation, maintenance and exit costs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
