Role of Delegated Authority Department
Delegated Authority provides oversight and technical support across Inigo's delegated underwriting and claims arrangements. Working with Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, Finance, Exposure Management, Product Oversight, Data and Operations, the team ensures delegated arrangements are appropriately approved, monitored, evidenced and reported in line with Inigo's risk appetite and Lloyd's and regulatory expectations.
Aim of the role
To proactively lead the day-to-day management, coordination and oversight of Inigo's delegated authority arrangements. The role provides practical technical guidance, maintains robust lifecycle governance, coordinates due diligence and audit activity, and ensures material risks, issues and actions are clearly reported, owned and escalated.
The successful candidate will combine technical delegated authority expertise with practical stakeholder leadership, helping Inigo manage delegated arrangements confidently, proportionately and in line with Lloyd's and regulatory expectations.

The successful candidate will do this by:
- Leading lifecycle governance across Coverholders, MGAs, delegated claims administrators, TPAs, Binding Authorities, Consortia, Lineslips and other delegated arrangements, ensuring oversight is proportionate, well-evidenced and aligned to Inigo’s risk appetite.
- Coordinating risk-based due diligence for new, renewing and materially changing arrangements, ensuring approvals, referrals, conditions, contractual obligations, licences, reporting capabilities and actions are clear, timely and well owned.
- Leading proportionate third-party oversight considerations across delegated agents, including fit and proper, financial, regulatory, operational, conduct, claims, sanctions, financial crime, data protection and jurisdictional risks.
- Providing clear delegated authority guidance and constructive challenge to Underwriting, Claims and other stakeholders, helping teams make balanced decisions and escalating material financial, regulatory, operational, conduct, customer or reputational risks.
- Developing and maintaining the delegated authority audit plan, coordinating scope, auditor selection, scheduling and stakeholder input, and ensuring findings and recommendations are followed through to closure, with prompt escalation of material issues.
- Overseeing the timely receipt, completeness and quality of bordereaux and related data, working with DA Data, Finance, Claims and Underwriting to resolve issues and maintain accurate, decision-useful records.
- Supporting simple, disciplined use of Lloyd’s and market systems, including DDM, DCOM, DAM, Atlas and Crystal, ensuring records are complete, current and evidencing compliance.
- Working with Compliance, Conduct and Product Oversight to assess product and customer risks, including target market, fair value, complaints, vulnerable customers and relevant local regulatory considerations.
- Preparing concise, action-focused management information, committee papers and escalation updates that help delegated authority governance forums and senior stakeholders understand the key issues, decisions and actions required.
- Maintaining constructive relationships with brokers, coverholders, delegated claims administrators, TPAs, auditors, Lloyd’s and relevant market bodies, translating market developments into practical improvements for Inigo’s delegated control environment.
- Supporting, coaching and developing DA colleagues, promoting consistent standards, clear ownership, low-ego collaboration and a solutions-focused approach.

To do this, we’re going to need you to bring:
- A proactive, ‘all in’ leadership style, with confidence to set direction, keep team focused on the right outcomes for Inigo, and make continuous improvement part of day-to-day delivery.
- Strong delegated authority experience in the Lloyd’s and London Market, with sound knowledge of Coverholders, Binding Authorities, Consortia, Lineslips and delegated claims arrangements.
- Practical knowledge of Lloyd’s delegated authority standards, procedures, systems and market expectations, with the judgement to apply them proportionately.
- Experience across due diligence, approvals, contract checks, audit planning, audit report review and recommendation tracking, with a clear focus on evidence, ownership and closure.
- A good understanding of commercial insurance operations, underwriting lifecycle controls and the regulatory, conduct and customer risks associated with delegated business.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence to provide clear guidance, constructive challenge and pragmatism across technical and senior audiences.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate complex issues into action-focused management information, committee papers and senior updates.
- Strong organisation, judgement and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain complete evidence trails and follow actions through to closure.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with confidence learning market and internal systems using them to improve control, insight and efficiency.
