Who are we?

Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 24,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.

People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

Role Purpose

We're looking for a detail-oriented Delegated Authority Technician to join our team supporting delegated underwriting operations. This is a flexible hybrid role with the opportunity to work primarily from home, alongside occasional attendance at the office for team collaboration, meetings, and training.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Excel skills who enjoys working with data, analysing information, and maintaining accurate records. Previous insurance experience would be beneficial, but candidates with transferable data and administrative skills who are keen to develop a career in insurance are encouraged to apply.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will help process bordereaux, maintain data quality, produce reports, and ensure information is handled accurately and efficiently.

Key Accountabilities

  • Process risk, premium and claims bordereaux, ensuring data is accurate and completed within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain spreadsheets, reports and management information using Excel.
  • Monitor gross written premium and notifiable limits, ensuring timely reporting.
  • Produce regular reports and ad-hoc analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s Regulatory Standards and FCA principles.
  • Use Lloyd’s systems efficiently and adapt to new systems, procedures, and DA structures.
  • Support the team and manager with day-to-day operations and project work.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners to obtain and validate information.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Align with GDPR, the Bribery Act 2010, anti-money laundering regulations, and sanctions policies.
  • Uphold Howden’s standards, market best practises, and the CII Code of Ethics.
  • Adhere to the firm’s Treating Customers Fairly policy and segregation of duties guidelines.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
