Delivery Driver – Operations

£26,440 per annum

Full Time; Permanent position

Our client is looking for a Driver to be responsible for all collections and deliveries, whilst assisting with the processing of the shipments on return to the warehouse in the evening.

Hours: 10am till finish, 7pm (sometimes earlier); Monday to Friday

Due to the nature of the role, there may be a requirement for some hours to be worked outside of normal business hours. These will be paid.

Experience And Personal Attributes Required

Our client is looking for a dependable and professional individual with a proven history of reliability, commitment, and excellent attendance throughout their career.

Essential Requirements:

  • Stable employment history demonstrating loyalty, commitment, and longevity with previous employers.
  • Excellent sickness and attendance record, with a track record of reliability and punctuality.
  • Able to provide outstanding employment references from previous employers that confirm work ethic, reliability, honesty, and performance.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Previous professional driving experience is essential and the ability to work effectively under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Confidence and experience driving a short wheelbase van or similar commercial vehicle.
  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling and lifting duties as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an excellent command of the English language.
  • Professional, smart, and well-presented always, taking pride in both personal appearance and customer service standards.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and able to handle customer goods with care and responsibility.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a small team whilst following company procedures and operational processes.
  • Flexible approach to work and willing to support the wider operation when required.
  • Clean criminal record.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering and collection of customer goods in an efficient, friendly manner, always with a can-do attitude.
  • Checking and scanning of all consignments at time of collection or delivery, ensuring that all information matches, and reporting any discrepancies immediately.
  • Ensuring accurate recording of POD information upon deliveries and taking photographic evidence.
  • Assisting Operations team during evening operation; weighing packages / bagging up / data processing / labelling / dropping into Agents/Partners.
  • Building relationships with clients by maintaining a professional, friendly, and courteous manner always.
  • Lodging at wholesale agents in accordance with cut-off times as and when required.
  • Checking to ensure that no packages are left over in the evening and if so, actioning immediately.
  • Liaising with transport / operations to ensure maximum efficiency during the working day.
  • Unloading of vehicle upon arrival at Colnbrook facility and sorting the shipments in accordance with their destination and service type.
  • Ensuring van is kept clean and tidy, and always completing a vehicle check list every Monday morning.
  • Company uniform must be always worn, and you must be presentable, neat and tidy always.
  • To maintain a safe level of driving always, keeping traffic offences / fines and accidents to a minimum, and reporting these as soon as they happen.

Experience Essential:

  • Fit and healthy – some manual work and lifting is required.
  • Previous driving experience is essential and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • UK Driving license with no more than 3 points.
  • Experience / confidence of driving a short wheel-based van, or something similar.
  • Courier operations experience preferred but not essential.
  • Must be smart, clean and tidy and take pride in their appearance.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a good command of the English language.
  • No criminal record.
  • Must be able to provide good references.
  • A stable work history with good sickness record.
  • Be reliable and trustworthy.
  • Able to work well in a small team and follow all company processes.
  • Have a friendly and can-do attitude always.
