Role Summary:

The individual will be responsible for leading one or more technology delivery teams responsible for delivering projects, product enhancements, and operational improvements.

The role is responsible for translating strategic priorities and roadmaps into successful delivery outcomes. The post holder combines people leadership, delivery management, and technical understanding to coordinate teams, remove blockers, manage risks, and ensure solutions are delivered to the required quality and timescales.

The role requires an individual who can remain credible in technical discussions whilst focusing primarily on enabling and leading teams to deliver.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support one or more cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Coordinate the planning, delivery, and implementation of technology initiatives.
  • Manage team workload, priorities, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments.
  • Maintain sufficient technical knowledge to support solution design, challenge assumptions, and facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Ensure solutions are delivered in line with agreed standards, operational requirements, and architectural direction.
  • Support the adoption of engineering best practices, automation, and quality-focused delivery approaches.
  • Translate strategic objectives and delivery roadmaps into actionable plans for delivery teams.
  • Work closely with senior leaders, product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure priorities remain aligned.
  • Provide clear communication on progress, risks, issues, and delivery outcomes.
  • Escalate significant risks and decisions appropriately whilst driving day-to-day resolution within the team.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience leading software engineering, technology, or delivery teams.
  • Good understanding of technology delivery lifecycles and modern engineering practices.
  • Ability to balance technical discussions with people and delivery leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong planning, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and working within a broader strategic framework.
  • Proven experience delivering agreed initiatives and objectives.
  • Effective coordination of delivery teams and resources.
  • High levels of quality, reliability, and operational stability in delivered solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication.
