Delivery Manager

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation with various locations across Scotland, are currently looking to recruit a Delivery Manager until the 31st of March 2027 on a rate of £560/day (Inside IR35). This role will have flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with Product Managers, internal delivery teams, and a diverse range of external partners in a fast-paced environment to develop, maintain, and adapt delivery plans.
  • Working with other delivery teams, both internally and externally, to manage work in progress and ensure that dependent work is tackled accordingly.
  • Helping the delivery team to identify and implement a process that works for them - including bringing potential improvements to the focus of the team - allowing for effective and sustainable value delivery.
  • Identifying, addressing, and managing risks, issues, and dependencies that will impede the effective delivery of the product or service.
  • Coach and mentor members of your team, and others, on the most appropriate application of Agile delivery tools and techniques to better support ways of working.
  • Effective coordination of team resource to maintain the team’s momentum of progressing priority deliverables while balancing outside asks.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in coaching and training both team members and others to apply the most appropriate agile and Lean tools and techniques
  • Proven track record of working with Product Managers (or Product Owners), business stakeholders, and multi-disciplinary roles within an agile delivery team
  • Experience in coordinating deliverables in collaboration with other teams and disciplines
  • Experience in managing, communicating, and escalating team level risks
  • Experience of working both independently and as part of a team, whilst balancing a range of competing priorities
  • Experience of leading team meetings, webinars, events, and/or conferences online
  • Track record of working within project management environments, planning, and organizing a variety of tasks, including involvement in multiple projects and programmes of work
  • Experience communicating complex, confidential, and often sensitive information with a range of staff across the organisation and with external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; to plan and prioritise own workloads, and that of your team; and to meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach to learning and problem solving
  • Commitment to own personal and professional development, and that of your team
  • Effective in communicating both the plan and progress against the plan to a range of stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Ability to solve issues and unblock problems; to drive teams, ensuring teams are working towards delivery commitments and identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Ability to translate complex technical information to simpler language to support internal and external stakeholder understanding
  • Proficient in adapting to change and supporting others to adapt
  • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders across different levels of seniority
  • Ability to respond to confidential and sensitive situations with confidence and discretion, utilising tact, diplomacy, and persuasion skills when necessary
  • Ability to collate and produce reports and statistical information
  • Line management skills and experience including coaching and/or mentoring of team members
  • Proven expertise in using Microsoft 365, in particular Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
  • Values driven approach to practice, aligned with core values

Desirable Skills:

  • Honours Degree level qualification with related in-depth experience or SCQF Level 10 equivalence obtained via Professional Development Awards; Graduate or Professional Apprenticeships; and SVQs
  • Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification
  • Professional Kanban I (PK I) certification
  • Experience of working in teams delivering and maintaining technology platforms
  • Experience of delivering presentations to large audiences on a local and/or national basis to enhance engagement and collaboration
  • Experience of working flexibly in complex/sensitive environments where the parameters of the job are not necessarily clearly defined
  • Expertise in accessing, analysing, and presenting a wide range of complex information to a range of audiences
  • Working knowledge of issue tracking software such as Jira or MS DevOps
  • Sound understanding of the application of GDPR to the storage and use of personal information and data privacy
