Job Description
Role: Delivery Manager
- Rate: £650 per day (Inside IR35)
- Location: Hybrid (2 days per month on site)
- Contract: 12 months
- Clearance: Basic BPPS required
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Delivery Manager to join a multidisciplinary service team within an ambitious, modern organisation. The organisation is currently executing a major end to end digital transformation programme.
You will be responsible for effective delivery across new and existing products, as well as operational management. Working closely with Product Managers, you will balance Agile best practices with pragmatic delivery decisions to convert extensive backlogs into production ready systems at pace.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Lead daily stand ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews to maintain momentum and foster continuous improvement
- Team Planning and Prioritisation: Support estimating, tracking, and delivery of team priorities aligned with business goals
- Workflow and Flow Metrics: Oversee the daily flow of work items from backlog to delivery, leveraging flow metrics to enhance predictability and efficiency
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers and technical leads to manage dependencies, understand priorities, and represent the team in programme level sessions
- Reporting and Insights: Track milestones, provide accurate delivery MI, and ensure clear visibility on progress, resourcing, and impediments
- Risk and Blocker Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks, resolve dependencies across workstreams, and remove obstacles impeding team performance
- Incident Response: Act as a key escalation point during live incidents, aiding coordinated resolution and communication
- Continuous Improvement: Build team maturity in Agile ways of working and share best practice across the broader DDaT Directorate

Essential Skills
- Proven track record as a Delivery Manager leading cross functional Agile delivery teams (Dev, QA, Architecture, Product, Design) within broader programme structures
- Deep knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and flow metrics, alongside familiarisation with DevOps practices and automated delivery pipelines (automated testing, CI/CD)
- Expertise in agile tooling such as Azure DevOps, Actionable Agile, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrable experience in producing high value Project Delivery Management Information (MI) and data driven decision making
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical, non-technical, and organisational boundaries
- Proven ability to manage complex cross team dependencies, risks, and live incident escalations.
- Relevant Scrum Master or Agile Project Manager qualification

Desirable
- Dual experience or background as a Product Manager/Product Owner to help shape broader delivery direction
- Understanding of DSIT / CDDO digital and technology pipelines
- Track record of promoting the value and understanding of Agile methodologies both within and outside IT departments
