Scheme Delivery Manager – Highways Maintenance

East of England - Hybrid
£60,000 + car/car allowance

Ready to take ownership of highways schemes from planning through to delivery?

I'm working with an established highways maintenance contractor looking for an experienced Scheme Delivery Manager to join their growing team in the East of England.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on with project delivery, managing site teams and ensuring highways schemes are completed safely, efficiently and commercially.

You'll be overseeing individual schemes valued up to £500k, alongside an annual portfolio of works worth approximately £4m, covering carriageway resurfacing, footway improvements, surface dressing and other structural maintenance schemes.

What will you be doing?

  • Taking ownership of highways maintenance schemes from initial planning through to completion
  • Managing operational teams, subcontractors and resources to ensure successful delivery
  • Overseeing programmes of work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Working closely with clients and programme teams to plan and coordinate annual works
  • Supporting early contractor involvement, site surveys and agreeing scheme costs
  • Managing health, safety, environmental and quality standards across projects
  • Reviewing applications for payment and monitoring commercial performance

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
