Delivery Manager

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week on site in Manchester

Salary: £69,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

Driving Requirement: A full UK driving licence is required for this role due to occasional travel.

About the Role

A permanent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Delivery Manager to join a leading specialist business supporting top-tier retail clients across the UK.

Based in Manchester, this role will take ownership of driving and streamlining a key portfolio of digital infrastructure and systems transformation initiatives. You will lead the delivery strategy across major operational projects, including modernising core e-commerce infrastructure, migrating data platforms to Microsoft Fabric, consolidating WMS and ERP environments across multiple operating entities, and upgrading internal collaboration platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio & Delivery Management: Oversee end-to-end delivery across core strategic transformation programmes
  • Workflow & Jira Discipline: Drive agile delivery best practices following an upcoming migration to Jira. Manage daily ticket workflows, ensure tickets are well-defined, clear blockers, and manage ticket ordering
  • Capacity & Resource Allocation: Balance workloads, assess team capacity, resolve cross-project dependencies, and allocate resources effectively across concurrent projects
  • Stakeholder Reporting & Risk Management: Deliver clear, transparent updates to senior leadership regarding project milestones, timescales, and progress. Identify potential delays early, evaluate ripple effects across the portfolio, and re-prioritise resources swiftly when business needs evolve
  • Technical Engagement: Discuss systems, architecture, and technical challenges comfortably with developers, technical teams, and non-technical retail stakeholders alike

Key Requirements & Candidate Profile

  • Technical Fluency: Strong background managing technical or software delivery programmes. A background in software development or engineering is highly advantageous
  • Resource & Capacity Management: Proven track record in mapping team capacity, identifying bottlenecks, and maintaining clear feedback loops with technical delivery teams
  • Hands-on Delivery Ownership: Strong command of day-to-day workflow management, ticket refinement, backlog ordering, and proactive risk mitigation
  • Executive & Team Communication: Confident communicator, comfortable delivering status updates to senior executives and engaging directly with delivery engineers on technical details
