We are seeking an experienced and passionate Project Lead for Skills for Change, an exciting UK wide programme funded by The Climate Action Fund at The National Lottery Community Action Fund.
Thanks to National Lottery players, Skills for Change has received £2.3 million over 3 years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. In partnership with Action for Children, Barnardo’s and Keep Scotland Beautiful, the project aims to engage over 1,600 young people (ages 16 to 30) not in education, employment, or training (NEET) in climate action through interventions focused on employability.
Green jobs are expanding rapidly with the UK’s transition to net-zero, yet there is a risk of disadvantaged young people being left behind. The project aims to increase young people’s skills, confidence and awareness of climate action, improve access to local opportunities and strengthen links between climate networks and underserved communities.
This innovative project aims to engage young people in Climate Action, develop their skills and confidence to take action, and ensure their voices shape the solutions needed for a more sustainable future.
As the Project Lead, you will manage the delivery of this national programme, working collaboratively with project partners, young people, external specialists and internal leadership colleagues. You will oversee all aspects of project planning, coordination and delivery, ensuring activities are engaging, impactful and delivered to the highest quality standards.
A key aspect of the role will be building strong relationships with partners across the UK, co-designing content and learning opportunities, facilitating events and leading networking meetings, and ensuring young people's experiences and perspectives remain at the heart of the programme. You will also work closely with our evaluation partner to capture outcomes, demonstrate impact and share learning across the sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the successful delivery of the Skills for Change project across the UK.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with project partners, funders and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and support the co-design of engaging climate action learning content, resources and events.
- Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure effective, high-quality project delivery and events.
- Ensure meaningful youth participation by creating opportunities for young people to influence and shape programme development.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, milestones and risks, taking proactive action to address challenges.
- Work alongside the project's evaluation partner to capture evidence, measure impact and communicate outcomes.
- Prepare reports and updates for funders, partners and senior leadership.
- Share learning, best practice and success stories to maximise the project’s reach and legacy.

You will have:
- Proven experience managing and delivering complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and partners.
- Strong partnership building and relationship management skills.
- Experience planning and delivering events, workshops or learning programmes.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience monitoring outcomes and using evaluation evidence to demonstrate impact.
- Outstanding communication and facilitation skills.
- A commitment to youth participation and amplifying young people's voices.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaborative relationships.

- Knowledge or experience of climate action, sustainability or environmental education.
