Delivery Manager
Salary: £65,000 per annum
Contract type: 6 Month Fixed-term contract
Start Date: ASAP
Client environment: UK Central Government
Remote role but expected to visit client site once a month or when required
Security clearance: Active, transferable SC clearance required
About the opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Delivery Manager for an important programme of work. The programme combines commercial, government and open-source data with advanced analytics and AI to generate details for users across government. Its priority workstreams include AI chatbot deployment, data and API initiatives, data-science projects, business-case activity and wider programme delivery.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring structure, visibility and momentum to several complex workstreams. The successful candidate will work closely with programme leads, technical teams, government stakeholders and external suppliers to maintain delivery plans, coordinate activity, manage risks and ensure priority deliverables continue to progress.
Key responsibilities
The Delivery Manager will:
- Create, maintain and manage delivery plans across multiple programme workstreams.
- Translate programme priorities into clear activities, work packages, owners and target dates.
- Maintain RAID logs, action trackers, decision logs and dependency maps.
- Monitor delivery progress and provide clear visibility of completed work, work in progress, upcoming activity and decisions required.
- Identify delivery blockers and escalate risks, issues and dependencies promptly.
- Coordinate contributions from programme teams, digital and data specialists, government stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Prepare concise progress reports, governance updates, meeting materials and decision papers.
- Support programme governance, including meeting preparation, action tracking and stakeholder follow-up.
- Assist with business-case and funding-related activity by coordinating evidence, inputs, benefits, risks and delivery narratives.
- Support the planning and mobilisation of new data-science and digital initiatives.
- Maintain clear, accurate and appropriately controlled programme documentation.
- Work flexibly across programme priorities according to the areas of greatest delivery need.

Key workstreams
The successful candidate will support delivery across a range of priority initiatives, including:
AI chatbot deployment
- Maintaining the delivery roadmap and coordinating the remaining deployment activity, including actions, decisions, risks, stakeholder inputs and governance reporting.
Data and discovery projects
- Working with data-science and technical leads to develop practical delivery plans and work packages, with clear ownership, sequencing, dependencies and next steps.
API deployment
- Coordinating the remaining delivery requirements associated with the API, including data quality, automation, auditability, security, stakeholder inputs, operational support and handover activity.
Business-case support
- Helping programme leads coordinate evidence and prepare structured material to support business cases, funding discussions and senior decision-making.
Wider PMO support
- Providing practical programme support, including reporting packs, governance papers, RAID updates, stakeholder follow-ups, meeting materials, action logs and delivery documentation.
Essential experience
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

- Strong experience as a Delivery Manager, Project Manager or Programme Delivery professional.
- A track record of delivering complex projects involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience creating and maintaining delivery plans, roadmaps and work packages.
- Strong risk, issue, action, decision and dependency management skills.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, technical specialists and third-party suppliers.
- Excellent stakeholder-management skills, including the confidence to follow up actions and challenge delivery blockers.
- Experience preparing governance papers, progress reports and senior-level updates.
- The ability to turn complex or incomplete information into structured delivery plans.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing delivery requirements.
- A practical, proactive and outcomes-focused approach.
- Active, transferable SC clearance.
Desirable experience
It would be particularly useful for candidates to have:
- Delivery experience within UK central government or another regulated public-sector environment.
- Experience working on digital, data, analytics or AI-enabled programmes.
- Experience working with DDaT, data-science or technical delivery teams.
- Exposure to API implementation, data integration or data-quality initiatives.
- Experience supporting business cases, funding submissions or benefits-management activity.
- Experience coordinating delivery across government departments.
- Familiarity with government security, information assurance, data governance and controlled information-handling requirements.
