What Is the Opportunity?
Here's What You'll Be Doing
Most organisations treat process optimisation as a side project. At Simply Business, we see it as the engine of our tech strategy. We're looking for a Delivery Operations Lead to step into our Shared Services department and transform how we build and scale. You won't just be managing workflows; you'll be acting as a systems-thinking champion to eliminate friction, optimise throughput, and turn our engineering delivery into a streamlined, high-efficiency machine. Reporting to the Delivery Manager, you’ll partner directly with Product and Engineering leaders to introduce global best practices, tackle systemic risks, and cut waste. With a background in software or data engineering, you understand the actual work behind the metrics. You will stabilise lead times, accelerate our time-to-market, and cut operational costs — ensuring our engineering teams can focus on doing their best, most impactful work.
As One Of Our Delivery Operations Leads, You'll
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen practices to overhaul end-to-end workflows and eliminate system-wide bottlenecks.
- Build and maintain dynamic workflow maps that expose blockers, highlight opportunities, and map out broader system impacts.
- Standardise and automate tools across Shared Services to streamline our discovery and software delivery lifecycles.
- Analyse core flow metrics (throughput, lead time, cycle time) to root out underlying issues and drive data-backed recommendations.
- Harness Jira, developer tooling, and BI platforms (like Looker or Tableau) to visualise process health and quantify the impact of change.
- Empower teams through self-service tooling, peer training, and data advocacy to embed a continuous-improvement mindset.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
