This role sits at the intersection of production operations, workflow engineering, and automation delivery. The Production Workflow Engineer translates real production requirements into reliable scripted, low-code, and no-code workflow solutions that improve throughput, reduce manual effort, and support consistent delivery across global production environments. Working under the direction of the Engineering Management to deliver workflow solutions, maintain operational stability, and support business transformation initiatives, the role will bring engineering expertise for the implementation, support, and continuous improvement of production workflow platforms.
You will support production workflow environments where business-critical processes depend on a mix of commercial workflow platforms, scripted automation, integration services, file movement tools, and low-code or no-code configuration. The engineer is expected to understand both the operational production process and the technical mechanisms that enable it, ensuring workflow changes are safe, supportable, and aligned to production deadlines.
What you'll be doing:
- Design, build, and deploy scripted, low-code, and no-code workflow automations that improve production efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize production workflow platforms, integrations, and supporting infrastructure.
- Support controlled releases, incident resolution, onboarding, and workflow changes with minimal disruption to production activity.
- Work with production, engineering, and operational teams to translate requirements into clear, supportable workflow solutions.
- Identify automation opportunities, improve documentation, and promote reusable, scalable workflow practices.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize production workflows to ensure reliable throughput, clear hand-offs, and minimal disruption to live production.
- Support controlled workflow deployments and changes by validating configuration, scripting logic, workflow dependencies, and rollback requirements before release.
- Monitor workflow performance and resolve production issues.
- Support platforms including Automation Engine, Signiant, Workato, GMG, Media Shuttle, and related systems.
- Assist with platform upgrades, testing, and configuration.
- Support global production teams.
- Develop, test, and deploy workflow automation solutions using scripting, platform configuration, low-code, and no-code tools where appropriate to balance delivery speed, maintainability, and production resilience.
- Build and maintain integrations between production platforms, including file transfer services, workflow agents, APIs, middleware, and automation connectors.
- Create and maintain workflow documentation and technical specifications.
- Support administration and enhancement of workflow databases, APIs, and middleware services.
- Contribute to workflow architecture and technology design by identifying scalable patterns, reusable components, and supportable automation approaches for production workflow delivery.
- Administer Linux and Windows-based workflow infrastructure.
- Maintain workflow agents, application servers, and supporting platform components.
- Support software upgrades, configuration changes, and environment maintenance.
- Ensure workflow services remain operational across global production locations.
- Participate in incident response and problem resolution.
- Support onboarding of new clients and workflow deployments.
- Maintain documentation and knowledge articles.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
- Support operational efficiency initiatives.
- Assist with proof of concepts and new technology.

Success in this role will be measured by the stability and reliability of production workflows, the quality and maintainability of automation delivered, the reduction of manual production effort, the speed and effectiveness of incident resolution, and the ability to support repeatable workflow deployment across teams and locations.
Who you'll be working with:
You will work closely with production teams, engineering colleagues, QA, project management, and client-facing stakeholders to understand workflow requirements, validate business rules, explain technical constraints, and ensure new or changed workflows are fit for operational use.
What you'll need:
- Experience supporting production workflow environments where deadlines, hand-offs, assets, and approvals are managed through production systems.
- Experience scripting or automating production processes using JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, shell scripting, or comparable automation.
- Understanding of how production processes translate into workflow automation requirements.
- Experience within production, creative operations, or workflow support.
- Technical aptitude with automation platforms and integrations.
- Understanding of file transfer, workflow automation, and production systems.
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively across technical, production, and operational teams, translating production needs into clear workflow requirements and supportable technical solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to diagnose workflow, infrastructure, and integration issues across multiple systems.
- Ability to work independently on ambiguous technical problems.
- Experience configuring or supporting low-code and no-code automation environments, including workflow builders, automation connectors, rule-based routing, form-driven processes, or business-user-facing automation tools.
- Adobe scripting knowledge.
- Workflow automation experience.
- Linux and Windows server administration.
- API and integration experience.
- Production workflow knowledge in scripting, low-code, or no-code environments.
- Git usage and working practices.
- Continuous integration and continuous deployment experience.
