Demand Planner

Surrey
3 days/week in the office

We’re working with an established and growing consumer products business that designs, develops and supplies a broad portfolio of branded and licensed products to major retailers across the UK and internationally.

Operating across fast-moving consumer categories, the business manages a diverse product portfolio with significant seasonal peaks, new product launches and multiple retail customers. They are now looking for a Demand Planner to strengthen their planning capability and provide greater visibility across the wider business.

This is a broad role combining demand planning, forecasting and inventory management with business reporting and data analysis. It would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of the numbers but can also turn data into clear, commercially useful information for senior stakeholders.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of the demand planning process across a varied portfolio of products and customers, working closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance and the wider commercial team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining accurate SKU and customer-level demand forecasts.
  • Analysing historical sales, customer forecasts, seasonality, promotions and market trends to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Managing forecasts for new product launches, range changes and product discontinuations.
  • Working closely with the commercial team to understand customer activity, promotional plans and changes in demand.
  • Supporting the S&OP / demand review process, highlighting risks, opportunities and significant changes to the forecast.
  • Monitoring stock levels and working with the supply team to balance availability against inventory and working-capital targets.
  • Identifying potential stock shortages, excess inventory and slow-moving lines and recommending appropriate action.
  • Tracking and reporting forecast accuracy, bias, service levels, inventory and other key supply chain KPIs.
  • Producing regular business performance reports and management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards to provide clear visibility of sales, demand, stock and operational performance.
  • Combining information from different data sources to identify trends, exceptions and commercial opportunities.
  • Automating and improving existing reporting processes, reducing reliance on manual spreadsheets wherever possible.
  • Turning complex datasets into clear insights and recommendations that support better business decisions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across forecasting, reporting and data management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
