An Opportunity to Join the Dementia and Delirium Team
An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the Dementia and Delirium Team for 4 days a week based at Newham University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust.
About the Role
We are seeking to recruit a Dementia Specialist Nurse / Occupational Therapist for 18 months, to support the delivery of the Trust Dementia Strategy, to help improve the care and experience of those living with dementia or delirium and their carers. The role will also support the National Dementia strategy by identifying patients living with dementia and other causes of cognitive impairment, to prompt appropriate referral and follow up to prevent re-admission.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and evaluation of a seamless Dementia Care Pathway.
- Provide specialist advice and support to ward teams, patients, and their carers.
- Deliver the Trust dementia and delirium education programme.
- Undertake clinical audits and research within the specialist area.
- Contribute to the embedding of KPI targets and NICE quality standards.
- Influence the ongoing development of clinical practice.
- Set standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, protocols, guidelines, and service developments.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a nurse / occupational therapist with creative flair who is experienced in working with people living with dementia. You will be enthusiastic, innovative, and forward-thinking with a passion for improving the lives of people living with dementia and/or delirium.
