Summary
This is a 2-month contract opportunity with a local authority, offering a rate of £24.21 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The role involves delivering professional, efficient, and comprehensive support for democratic services and legal functions within the Council. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth administration of meetings for the Council, Committees, Sub-Committees, Panels, and Working Groups. This position is crucial for upholding good governance, maintaining precise records, coordinating decision-making processes, and advising on Council business conduct.
Responsibilities
- Organize, coordinate, and provide clerical support for Council, Committee, Sub-Committee, Panel, and Working Group meetings.
- Prepare and distribute agendas, reports, minutes, and related documents.
- Offer procedural advice and guidance on Council business and governance issues.
- Ensure effective administration of meetings for elected Members and officers.
- Manage committee work programmes and ensure timely progression of actions.
- Maintain and update the Council's electronic governance and committee management systems.
- Record, track, and monitor decisions made by Committees, Sub-Committees, Panels, and Working Groups.
- Ensure governance records are accurate, accessible, and compliant with Council procedures.
- Support the implementation and follow-up of committee resolutions and actions.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in Democratic Services, Governance, Committee Services, Legal Support, or a similar administrative role.
- Professional experience servicing and attending committee meetings.
- Experience liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior officers, Members, and external partners.
- Educated to A-Level standard or possess equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated capability in providing strong administrative and governance support.
Additional Information
- Working hours are 37.50 hours per week.
- The role offers flexibility for remote or hybrid working, depending on service needs.
- Payments are made on a bi-weekly schedule.
