Mint Dental Clinic – Elephant & Castle, London
Full-time | Competitive salary depending on experience
More than just reception
We are looking for an exceptional Front of House Receptionist / Patient Coordinator to become one of the first and last people our patients interact with at Mint Dental Clinic. This is not simply an administrative position. You will be responsible for creating a warm, professional and highly organised patient experience — welcoming patients into the practice, managing their journey through the clinic, dealing confidently with enquiries and ensuring that every patient leaves knowing exactly what happens next. For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to develop beyond front of house and progress into a Treatment Coordinator role, supporting patients through more complex treatment journeys and helping them understand their options and next steps.
About Mint Dental Clinic
Mint Dental Clinic is a modern, multidisciplinary private dental practice in Elephant & Castle, London. We have four surgeries and a team consisting of general dentists, hygienists and visiting clinicians providing advanced areas of dentistry. Our ethos is simple: provide excellent dentistry while making sure patients feel listened to, well informed and confident about the decisions they make regarding their care. We believe exceptional clinical care needs to be matched by an exceptional patient experience. That is where this role comes in.
The Role
You will take ownership of the day-to-day front-of-house patient journey. Your responsibilities will include:
- Warmly welcoming and checking patients into the practice
- Checking patients out following their appointments
- Taking payments and arranging future appointments
- Ensuring patients understand their next steps before leaving
- Managing telephone, email and online enquiries from existing patients
- Responding professionally and efficiently to patient questions
- Coordinating appointments across clinicians and different areas of treatment
- Helping maintain an organised and productive appointment book
- Following up patients where further appointments or information are required
- Communicating effectively with dentists, nurses, hygienists and the wider team
- Maintaining accurate patient records and administrative information
- Handling sensitive or challenging conversations calmly and professionally
- Taking ownership of problems rather than simply passing them on

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You will become someone both our patients and clinical team can rely upon.
Progression Into Treatment Coordination
We are particularly interested in finding somebody who wants to develop their career within dentistry rather than remain in a purely reception-based position. As your knowledge and confidence grow, we will train you to take on greater responsibility for the patient journey. This may include:
- Supporting patients following treatment consultations
- Helping patients understand the treatment journey already discussed with their dentist
- Discussing fees, appointment sequencing and finance options
- Following up patients who are considering treatment
- Understanding and addressing barriers such as timing, anxiety or finances
- Coordinating more complex treatment involving several clinicians
- Supporting patients from initial consultation through to treatment completion
- Developing into a dedicated Treatment Coordinator / Patient Advisor
Our approach is not about hard selling dentistry. It is about clarity, trust, excellent communication and helping patients make informed decisions that are right for them.
Dental Nursing Experience
Previous dental experience is highly desirable. A qualified dental nurse or someone with dental nursing experience would be particularly well suited to the position. Being able to provide occasional nursing support when required would be a significant advantage and would allow you to develop a much deeper understanding of the treatments and patient journey within the practice. However, your primary position will be front of house and patient coordination, rather than a full-time nursing role.

You are:
- Naturally warm, confident and professional with patients
- An excellent communicator both face-to-face and over the telephone
- Highly organised and able to manage several things at once
- Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility
- Calm when dealing with difficult situations
- Detail-focused and reliable
- Commercially aware while remaining patient-centred
- Comfortable discussing fees and payments
- Proactive rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Interested in understanding dentistry and the treatments we provide
- Keen to develop professionally and take on more responsibility over time
Most importantly, you understand that great front of house is not simply answering the phone and booking appointments. It is about making patients feel looked after from the moment they contact the practice until the moment their treatment is complete.
Ideally You Will Have
- Previous dental reception, dental nursing or patient coordination experience
- Experience working within a private dental practice
- Strong telephone and customer-service skills
- Experience using dental practice management software
- Confidence discussing appointments, treatment fees and payments
- Good written communication and attention to detail
- GDC registration as a dental nurse would be an advantage but is not essential.
Why Join Mint Dental Clinic?
You will be joining an ambitious and growing private dental practice with the opportunity to build a genuine career rather than simply fill a reception position. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team, gain exposure to a wide range of dentistry and receive support to develop your skills in:
Front of House → Patient Coordination → Treatment Coordination
We are looking for somebody who wants to become an important long-term member of the practice and grow as the clinic continues to develop.
If you are excellent with people, highly organised and want a role where you can progressively take on greater responsibility within a modern private dental practice, we would love to hear from you.
