Job Description
Edinburgh Dental Specialists is looking for a motivated and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our highly respected specialist practice in the heart of Edinburgh.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established private practice with a loyal patient base, working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

The Role
- Saturdays - 9:00am – 1:00pm to start with a view to increase days
- Established patient list from day one
- Fully private practice
- Modern clinical environment with advanced dental technology
- Full support from an experienced nursing and administrative team
You must be a GDC-registered Dental Hygienist with a passion for delivering high-quality preventative and periodontal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a full range of dental hygiene treatments, including scaling, polishing, and non-surgical periodontal therapy
- Assess patients’ oral health and identify signs of periodontal disease
- Provide preventative treatments and oral health advice
- Educate and motivate patients to maintain excellent oral hygiene
- Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment notes
- Adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols
- Work collaboratively with specialists, dentists, and the wider practice team
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience through clear communication and compassionate care
- Participate in continuing professional development and maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge

Essential Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Dental Hygiene
- Current General Dental Council (GDC) registration
- Valid DBS/PVG clearance
- Previous experience working as a Dental Hygienist
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and clinical abilities
- Commitment to delivering outstanding patient care
- Confident using digital clinical systems and technology
Desirable
- Experience managing periodontal patients
- Experience working within a specialist or referral environment
- Interest in patient education and preventative dentistry
- Familiarity with digital dentistry and modern clinical technologies
