Job Description: Qualified Dental Nurse
Community & Special Care Dentistry is recruiting a qualified dental nurse to join the specialist dental service at Firth Park Dental Clinic. The consultant-led multi-disciplinary teams are dedicated to providing dental care to vulnerable client groups.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 in Oral Health or equivalent.
- Current registration with the GDC.
- Post-basic qualification is preferred but not essential.
Job Details
- Type of Contract: Fixed term for 12 months.
- Review of Contract Status: To be reviewed in accordance with Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and the management of organizational change.
- Secondment: Only considered for existing NHS staff with prior agreement from current line manager.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive dental nurse support, including:
- Clinical and clerical duties to the dental team.
- Assistance in the provision of oral health care.
- Prevention and health education to clients with learning or physical difficulties, mental health issues, medical compromise, elderly dependency, or dental phobia.
- Inclusive care in community clinics, care homes, patients' own homes, and secure units.
- Coverage at other community dental sites for annual leave and absence.

- Main provider of special care dentistry in Sheffield.
- Provides dental care in community settings for those with difficulty accessing treatment or requiring special care on a referral basis.
- Works closely with the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital.
- Supports undergraduate dental students, clinicians, senior clinicians, and specialists.
Experience Required
- Experience and knowledge of the clinical working environment and current practices/challenges to maintain and utilize an appropriately skilled team of dental care professionals to support service delivery.
