Genix Health Care Dental Nurse Apprenticeship
Genix Health Care is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join their team at their practice in Whitley Bay as an apprentice Dental Nurse. The successful candidate will work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing and will support with the day-to-day running of the surgery as well as reception when required.
What you'll do at work
- Clean and provide basic routine maintenance to the surgery equipment
- Ensure that all instruments are clean and sterilised
- Pass instruments to the dentist during procedures
- Prepare instrument trays and materials for procedures
- Assist the dentist with chair side duties
- Develop x-rays and file appropriately
- Monitor surgery stock items
- Dispose of all clinical waste in a safe and appropriate manner
- Change cold sterilisation fluid as recommended by the manufacturer’s instructions
- Maintain autoclave water levels and ensure they are drained of water at least once per week
- Assist with maintaining patient records up to date when required
- Maintain hygiene standards across the clinic
- Act as a witness/chaperone
- Prepare impressions for dispatch to the laboratory
- Maintain cleanliness of all filters/suction/hand piece turbines
- Ensure all health and safety issues are maintained within the practice
- Act in a discreet and confidential manner relating to business/personal issues
- Patient confidentiality must be adhered to at all times

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)

- This vacancy is to start immediately; therefore, you must be available to start before applying.

- Individuals are able to undertake an apprenticeship at a higher level than a qualification they currently hold, including any previously completed apprenticeships. Individuals can also undertake an apprenticeship at the same level, or lower than a qualification they already hold, as long as the new apprenticeship allows for new skills to be acquired and the content of the training is materially different from any previous qualification or apprenticeship. For example, if you already have a Level 4 qualification, you still may be able to complete an apprenticeship at any level providing you meet the eligibility criteria and are learning substantive new skills.
