Higher Level Dental Nurse Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Higher Level Dental Nurse to join the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department at Salford Royal Hospital.

Requirements

  • Registered with the General Dental Council
  • Recognised Dental Nursing qualification
  • Post qualification certificate in Dental Radiography and/or Dental Conscious Sedation (essential)
  • Experience within Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics (highly desirable)

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide specialist dental nursing support across Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics, delivering high quality care to a diverse patient group, including those with complex medical, physical, sensory and learning needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high quality specialist dental nursing care within Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic services
  • Providing chairside support for a wide range of dental and surgical procedures, including complex treatments and intravenous sedation
  • Undertaking dental radiography in accordance with IR(ME)R regulations and departmental protocols
  • Supporting nurse-led clinics including oral health promotion, radiography and pre-operative assessment clinics
  • Providing patients and carers with specialist advice, education and pre and post-operative instructions
  • Maintaining quality assurance processes relating to radiography, medical emergency equipment, dental equipment and infection prevention and control
  • Supporting the management and organisation of clinics, ensuring effective use of resources and maintaining high standards of patient care
  • Supervising, supporting and mentoring dental nursing colleagues, apprentices and learners within the clinical environment
  • Contributing to audit, service improvement initiatives and the development of clinical policies and procedures
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the department
