THE ROLE
This is an opportunity to lead the design and delivery of practical AI deployment tools, frameworks and guidance that help organisations adopt AI successfully at scale. Working across the BridgeAI programme, you'll combine hands-on product development with direct advisory support, helping organisations navigate the technical, operational and governance challenges of AI deployment. You'll also play a key leadership role, managing team members, engaging senior stakeholders and shaping the programme's long-term impact through reusable products, best practice guidance and industry engagement.
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for an experienced AI, machine learning or data science professional with a strong track record of helping organisations deploy AI solutions in real-world environments. You'll combine deep technical expertise with experience developing practical tools, frameworks and guidance that drive adoption at scale. Comfortable leading teams, managing product development initiatives and engaging with stakeholders at all levels, you'll bring a strong understanding of AI governance and assurance, alongside the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable outcomes.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Build Products and Deployment Toolkits
- Develop a portfolio of interactive digital tools and structured guidance products to support organisations at key stages of the AI deployment journey, including readiness assessment, use case validation, risk identification and assurance planning.
- Own the product development roadmap, balancing near-term programme needs with the longer-term value of outputs designed to outlast and extend beyond the programme.
- Ensure products are designed for broad adoption: accessible, well-documented and usable by practitioners across sectors without specialist support.
- Contribute to programme-level artefacts including deployment templates, assurance frameworks, integration guidance and benefits evidence that support future AI deployers.

Advise and Support Organisations
- Work with a focused portfolio of organisations to scope, develop and harden AI deployment use cases in real operational settings.
- Provide technical deployment guidance covering site readiness, governance approvals, workflow implications, change management and staff capability requirements.
- Advise on AI safety, ethics and assurance, drawing on recognised frameworks including ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 23894, NIST AI RMF and UK GDPR / DPA 2018.
- Conduct end-user readiness assessments and provide evidence-based input to programme stage gates and funding decisions.
- Feed insights from advisory engagements directly into the product development pipeline, ensuring tools remain grounded in live deployment realities.
Lead the Team and Contribute to the Programme
- Line manage the Impact & Data Manager, providing day-to-day direction, clear objectives and active support for their professional development.
- Participate in programme meetings, contribute deployment learning to the wider advisor and partner community.
- Support public dissemination activities including workshops, publications and open tools that promote AI deployment best practice across UK industry.
- Engage with sector bodies, regulators and Innovate UK partners as a technical representative of the Turing’s participation in BridgeAI and the wider Strategic Capabilities team.

Term and Conditions
This full-time post is offered on a fixed term basis until March 2030. The annual salary range is £73,720 - £78,750 plus an excellent benefits package including private medical insurance, 10% employer pension contribution, flexible hybrid working and family friendly policies - full details can be seen here.
The Alan Turing Institute is based at the British Library, in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter. We expect staff to come to our office at least 4 days per month. Some roles may require more days in the office; the hiring manager will be able to confirm this during the interview.
