Help us make a difference as a Depot Manager in Atherstone
A quick look at the role
As a Depot Manager, you'll take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of our Atherstone Transfer Station and Packaged Goods Transport operation. Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you'll lead a team of 10 and be responsible for delivering safe, compliant and efficient operations while driving customer service, financial performance and continuous improvement. You'll use your leadership skills and operational experience to create a positive safety culture, develop your team and ensure the depot consistently meets its operational, environmental and commercial targets.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of 10, creating a strong culture of safety, engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Take overall responsibility for the site's health, safety and environmental performance, ensuring compliance with legislation, permits and company standards.
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring the right people, plant and processes are in place to deliver an efficient and effective service.
- Manage customer requirements, site capacity, bookings and resources to ensure service levels and OTIF targets are consistently achieved.
- Take ownership of the depot's financial performance, managing costs, budgets and P&L performance while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
- Monitor site KPIs and performance, identifying areas for improvement and taking action to deliver against operational, compliance and commercial targets.
- Work collaboratively with regional and national teams to optimise transport, processing and disposal costs and develop innovative service solutions.
- Support new projects and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring the depot is prepared for future legislative, customer and operational requirements.

Our Essential Requirements
- Experience managing an operational team within the hazardous waste industry, ideally within a hazardous waste transfer or physical-chemical treatment environment.
- A degree in Chemistry, a related science discipline or Engineering, alongside IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous waste legislation, with an understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a mixed-skilled team in a busy operational environment.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make decisions confidently.
- Experience with risk assessments, method statements, incident investigations and performance management, alongside good IT skills including Microsoft Office
