Where will you be working?

This role is in our Plant & Fleet department, our Plant & Fleet supports teams across our business with their vehicle, plant and specialist equipment needs, offering hire solutions that are commercially effective, reliable, safe and compliant.

What will you be doing?

You will be accountable for the overall management of the depot, taking primary responsibility for the safety, security, and environmental performance of the site, including the building, yard, employees, visitors, contractors, and office staff.

This role provides first-line leadership and oversees daily workshop operations and ensures technician productivity is maintained to a high standard.

  • 1st Line conduct
  • Workshop supervision - day to day activity management of technician Productivity & efficiency
  • Manage 3rd party work bookings
  • H&S management - ensure robust standards are adhered to
  • Raise PO’s - manage & organize cost effective, Quality solutions for M Group
  • VOR Control - ensure asset availability is maximized by maintaining low VOR through a key focused reviewing regularly across multiple departments
  • Communication - Deliver Business updates and technical Toolbox Talks to keep the Workshop team appraised of technical/safety & Business updates,
  • On hire Preparation requests From Rental team- manage and scheduled in additional workload as requested

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience of working as a Senior Engineer or Workshop Supervisor role gained through working as a Service Engineer/Fitter on LCVs, HGVs or Plant & Equipment or in a similar position.
  • Engineering qualification (likely to be gained in a Construction Plant environment, City & Guilds or NVQ preferred) achieved through a recognised formal training programme.
  • Capability to take ownership and responsibility.
  • Committed to delivering high standards of work & customer service.
  • Ability to analyse data and produce detailed counter measures to close performance gaps and provide high asset compliance.
  • Keen to learn with an interest in development and progression
  • Hardworking, Driven & passionate
  • Excellent attendance and timekeeping
  • Reliable
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Must have a ‘can do’ attitude
