This is a senior operational role with responsibility for the overall performance of a busy depot, leading a multi-functional team across engineering, workshop, transport, yard, and administration.

We’re looking for an experienced operational leader who understands what it takes to run a high-performing depot. You’ll need to be equally comfortable managing people, driving productivity, and controlling costs as you are dealing with customers and ensuring equipment is available, compliant, and ready for hire.

The Role

As Depot Manager, you’ll have autonomy for the day-to-day running of the operation, with responsibilities including:

  • Leading, developing, and motivating the depot team
  • Managing workshop, engineering, transport, yard, and administrative functions
  • Ensuring equipment is inspected, repaired, and made available for hire efficiently
  • Driving depot performance against operational, productivity, and service KPIs
  • Managing fleet availability and working closely with other locations to maximize utilization
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
  • Ensuring transport operations and the LGV fleet remain compliant
  • Managing depot costs, stock, and third-party suppliers
  • Monitoring performance, identifying training requirements, and developing team members
  • Maintaining strong relationships with existing customers and supporting local business growth
  • Ensuring customers receive a consistently high level of service
  • Taking ownership of site standards, facilities, and general depot operations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
