Job Introduction

Depot Supervisor for South

We are looking for a Depot Supervisor to join our dedicated team in the Parks & Street Cleansing South. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

The Main Responsibilities Of This Role

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient supervision of all maintenance activities within sites including formal parks, playing fields, bowling greens, buildings, play areas and other open spaces.
  • To lead and co-ordinate with multiple small teams working outdoors carrying out grounds maintenance activities within an identified area across the district.
  • Responsible for the supervision and direction of depot employees generally operating in line with defined operational methods but requiring regular 'on the spot' decisions with regard to work schedules, priorities and issues in order to ensure delivery of a quality service.
  • Responsible for driving and operating a wide range of vehicles and plant including vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes with trailer attachments for transporting mowers, as well as ride-on-mowers & pedestrian operated machinery.
  • Responsible for security of equipment, undertaking daily checks, reporting defects and organising repairs.
  • To price up jobs, providing quotations and arranging invoicing through admin.
  • Checking property records to identify land ownership, deal with insurance claims and front line complaints.
  • Monitoring of staff workloads and performance, carrying out the council's test and inspect, including driving licence checks making recommendations to the Parks & Street Cleansing Manager. Carry out basis return to work discussions for parks staff.
  • To be responsible for the security of the depot and building within designated area of responsibility including opening and closing depot/buildings as necessary.
  • Assist the Parks & Street Cleansing Manager in the operation of emergency service as required, particularly with buildings within designated area of responsibility, including 24 hour call out duties and the organisation and delivery of out of hours response to emergency situations including winter maintenance.
  • Carry out identified duties in the absence of the Parks & Street Cleansing Manager.
