Leadership Role in NIHR Integrated Academic Training Programme
Are you an established consultant clinical academic? Would you like to have a leadership role in the NIHR Integrated Academic Training programme in West Yorkshire which promotes academic clinical research careers in the region? Do you have a track record of influence and leadership within the academic and clinical environment?
West Yorkshire has a vibrant clinical academic research community across many clinical specialties requiring strategic partnership between the University of Leeds, NHS England North East and Yorkshire and regional NHS partners including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Role Overview
Deputy Academic Training Programme Directors are commissioned by the Postgraduate Deanery (NHS England North East and Yorkshire) to manage academic training placements and to monitor and promote academic progression within a range of specialties linked to broad themes within the NIHR Integrated Academic Training (IAT) programme. At the University of Leeds these themes are Medicine, Surgery, Health Sciences, Diagnostics and Digital.

The Deputy Academic Training Programme Director (Diagnostic and Digital specialties) oversees clinical academic training linked to Diagnostic and Digital themed specialties including Histopathology, Clinical Radiology, Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Haematology.
The Deputy Academic Training Programme Directors are professionally and managerially accountable to the Academic Training Programme Director and through them to the Postgraduate Dean/Deputy Dean. The Deputy Academic Training Programme Director (Diagnostic and Digital specialties) will focus upon improvement of academic supervision, the assessment and experience of academic residents ensuring effective processes are in place to support academic progression.
