Deputy Business and Operations Manager
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Deputy Business and Operations Manager to work within the Institute of Metabolic Science. This is a busy position working in a dynamic environment supporting the Business and Operations Manager, the Head of Department, and Head of Epidemiology in managing the Professional Services Team across the Institute of Metabolic Science - Metabolic Research Laboratories and the Institute of Metabolic Science Epidemiology within the Institute of Metabolic Science.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance Management and Research Grant Administration
- Develop, review, and implement administrative structures and systems to ensure the effective delivery of services.
- Identify areas of service that need improvement and implement changes to processes, policies, and working practices.
- Support the implementation of vital University of Cambridge transformation projects in the Institute such as the Finance Transformation Programme.

- Operational Management
- Support the Business and Operations Manager in the day-to-day operational management of a large administrative and support team.
- Deliver professional services to Principal Investigators and their groups across the IMS.
- The IMS Professional Services team supports over 300 staff and nearly 100 PhD and MPhil students.
Location
The role is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus within Addenbrooke's Hospital.
Qualifications
- Degree level education or equivalent.
- Substantial finance and grant administration experience at a senior level.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work on your own initiative, prioritize work, work to tight deadlines, and have excellent people management and communication skills.
