At Highgate Sycamores, we believe outstanding care starts with outstanding people.
Located in the heart of Wakefield, Highgate Sycamores is a warm, welcoming and resident-focused care home where relationships matter. Our residents are at the centre of everything we do, and we are proud of the family atmosphere that has been created for residents, relatives and colleagues alike.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Deputy Care Home Manager to join our leadership team and help us continue to deliver exceptional person-centred care whilst supporting the Home Manager in the day-to-day running of the service.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and hands-on care leader who enjoys being visible and actively involved in the home. You will be a key presence within the home, supporting the team, maintaining high standards and making a genuine difference to residents' day-to-day experience.
The role also operates on a rolling rota, including working every other weekend, ensuring strong leadership and support are available across the home and reflecting the needs of our residents and care team. If you are looking for a role where no two days are the same, where your leadership is truly visible and where you can have a real impact, this is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
