Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Centre Manager to help lead one of Scotland’s outdoor learning centres. This is an exciting opportunity to combine operational leadership with programme development, staff mentoring and delivering exceptional outdoor experiences.
Working alongside the Centre Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the centre while helping shape its future growth and development.

The Role
As Deputy Centre Manager, you’ll support the Centre Manager in leading the centre, ensuring high standards across operations, programme delivery, health and safety, and customer experience. You’ll also deputise for the Centre Manager when required and provide leadership across a multidisciplinary team.
This is a varied role combining operational management, staff development, programme oversight and strategic planning.
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per year

Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible working considered)
Contract: Full-time
Key Responsibilities Include
- Supporting the day-to-day management of the residential centre
- Leading and developing instructional, administration, domestic and maintenance teams
- Maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and programme delivery
- Supporting recruitment, training and professional development of staff and volunteers
- Managing activity programmes for Scouts, schools and other youth organisations
- Working with clients to develop high-quality residential experiences
- Promoting the centre through outreach events and partnership working
- Supporting equipment inspection, maintenance and replacement programmes
- Liaising with external contractors and suppliers
- Participating in the centre duty management rota
- Deputising for the Centre Manager when required
- Supporting the long-term development and growth of the centre
About You
You’ll be an experienced outdoor learning professional who enjoys leading teams, developing people and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Essential Requirements
We’re looking for someone with:
- At least five years’ experience working within outdoor learning or a similar sector
- Experience leading and managing staff in an outdoor learning environment
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Experience managing programmes and delivering high-quality customer experiences
- A collaborative and supportive leadership style
- Excellent planning and prioritisation skills
- A flexible, positive approach to work
Qualifications
You’ll hold:
- A minimum of three National Governing Body qualifications from:
- Mountain Leader (Summer)
- Rock Climbing Instructor
- Paddlesports Leader
- Mountain Bike Level 2
- RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor (essential)
- 16-hour Outdoor First Aid qualification
- Additional Coaching Or Leadership Qualifications Are Desirable.

You’ll also have:
- Experience managing PPE and activity equipment
- Knowledge of residential outdoor centres and expedition programmes
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and CRM systems
- A full UK driving licence
- An understanding of, or empathy with, the values and ethos of Scouts Scotland
- The ability to obtain (or already hold) an Enhanced PVG
