About the Role
In Emergency Same Day Care, excellence is essential; you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the latest evidence-based practice, ensuring our patients receive the highest quality treatment and support.
As Deputy Sister within our Same Day Emergency Care Unit, you will work closely with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist care to patients with medical conditions and nurse lead clinic such DVT and (MDU) Medical Day unit. This is a dynamic and rewarding role where clinical expertise meets leadership, offering you the opportunity to influence service delivery and enhance patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the designated deputy to the individual with continuing responsibility for the unit.
- Play a key role within a multi-professional team committed to delivering a coordinated, comprehensive, and holistic service for emergency care pathway referrals and medical emergency patients.
- Regularly take charge of the unit, providing effective clinical, professional, and operational leadership in the absence of the ward Sister.
- Ensure the smooth running of the service while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.
- Work collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Specialists and colleagues across Emergency floor services to deliver an outstanding, patient-centred experience across all aspects of treatment.
- Play an active role in developing others, supporting the teaching, supervision, and assessment of registered staff, learners, return-to-practice nurses, and healthcare assistants - helping to foster a skilled, confident, and compassionate workforce.

Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Qualified nurse with a strong background in acute medicine supporting patients and their families through complex and often challenging pathways. Alongside your clinical expertise, you will bring leadership and management experience - demonstrating the ability to support, motivate, and develop staff, coordinate clinical activity, and contribute to service improvement and innovation.
